Short Bio
My research and teaching involve modern Chinese, Korean, and Japanese literatures. Broadly, I am interested in how people from the margins -- geographical or metaphorical -- gain power, find identity, and establish connections through transcultural negotiation and co-formation. My past and current research projects examine literatures from China's Northeast (as frontier and borderland literature); Sinophone and Chinese Ethnic Minority literature; and literature, media and sexual violence in contemporary East Asia. I am always curious about where my next research project will take me.
